Tesia Blackburn was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and went to elementary school in Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Oregon. She attended high school in New Mexico and then moved to San Francisco.

Tesia has been a working artist in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 20 years. In 2002 NextMonet Inc., signed Tesia to produce prints of several of her paintings.

In 2000 she was hired by Golden Artist Colors, as the Golden Working Artist in San Francisco. Her work is collected both locally and internationally with patrons as far away as Tokyo.

She received her BFA from the Academy of Art in 1984, studied lithography at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1990 and received her Master’s of Art in 1992 at John F. Kennedy University in Orinda, California.

Tesia has taught at the Mendocino Art Center, Palo Alto Art Center, San Francisco City College, Santa Fe NM Community College, the Randall Museum in San Francisco, Walnut Creek Civic Arts and other facilities.

Tesia is currently represented by Artscape Gallery in Walnut Creek, California and Marion Meyer Gallery in Laguna Beach, California.

Gallery Concord "fall Festival of color" Oct 3 opening reception
“Fall Festival of Color” opens with a reception on Friday October 3
from 6-8 pm at Gallery Concord. We invite you to come hear the music
of singer Bob Merritt, and to see the works of our Internationally
known Featured artist, Qian Gao, with his expressive watercolors and
our guest artist, Nationally recognized oil painter, Tara Keefe.
Also on display will be the works of our 25 member artists and a
juried group show by California Watercolor Artists.

Gallery Concord is located at 1765 Galindo (at the corner of Clayton
Road), Concord, CA 94520. Free parking is available behind the
gallery off Clayton Road. Gallery Hours are Thursday to Sunday, 11

Since 1996, AC5 has sponsored the Arts Recognition Awards, a program that honors individuals whose work in arts and culture has had a significant impact on the quality of life in Contra Costa County. This year's award winners will be honored at a public celebration at the Soda Center at St. Mary's College in Moraga, where they will receive their award on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 4 p.m.  Awards will be presented by the Honorable Supervisor Gayle Uilkema from District 2, who will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.  To reserve a seat at this free public event, send an email to anne@ac5.org,or call 925-646-2278.

Summer show at Gallery Concord
 
The Color of My Palette, the summer show of Gallery Concordopens Saturday, July 5 and runs through Sunday Sept 28.
 
El Sobrante resident Samantha McNally is the featured artist of the 25 resident artist showing their work.  Guest artist Adriane Dedic will display her printmaking and there will be group juried show by the artists of the California Watercolor Asociation.
